El mecanismo propuesto es la inhibición de la citocromo p450 2D6 metabolismo de primer paso y la disminución del aclaramiento hepático. Los datos están disponibles para metoprolol y propranolol sólo; sin embargo, otros hepatically metaboliza bloqueadores beta orales también pueden verse afectados.
